Meet the Mentors - Sue Bishop

Sue Bishop

I was born into Mormonism and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding area for the first 30 years of my life. Both my husband and I of 54 years of marriage come from a long lineage of Mormons, and growing up, their teachings were all that we both knew about God.

When I was a Mormon, I served as a Primary teacher and also as the Homemaking teacher and also was a visiting teacher for the Relief Society.

While growing up Mormon I saw and heard many things that disturbed me about the Mormon Church. I also had many questions that were left unanswered as no one seemed to know the answers either. I wanted to leave the church, but they held me with fear so I kept working my way to gaining God’s acceptance, hoping that things would one day be made more clear for me.

When we moved to Washington State, I decided I had to know these answers so I started researching Mormonism from their own materials. I was surprised to find that the fear they held me with intensified into a heavy dark cloud of oppression. As I studied farther I knew they were not right but then I thought, "With all the religions in the world, how will I ever sort this entire mess out?" Life would have been so much easier if I'd had a former Mormon mentor to lead me through the fog.

I also started diligently reading my Bible and it was here that I found the answers I was looking for. I would like to help you find these answers too.

For His Glory,
